What's New at St. Agnes ParishOur Own Needs Collection This Weekend![]() Letter from Bishop Robert Morneau My Dear Friends in Christ: The annual diocesan collection for Our Own Needs will take place on Pentecost Sunday, May 11. The four major causes represented in this collection and their purpose is: Catholic Communications Campaign - The CCC develops media programming, projects and resources that promote Gospel values. Fifty percent of the collection support local communications efforts, such as televised Masses and diocesan newspapers. The other fifty percent supports the development and production of a wide range of national media programming. Catholic University of America - For more than 100 years, the CUA, founded by the American bishops and chartered by the Vatican, has depended upon the generosity of parishioners through the USA to help financially deserving students afford a CUA education. Grounded in the philosophy of Catholic tradition, students receive an excellent liberal arts education that prepares them to make a difference in today’s world. Catholic Home Missions Appeal - This helps meet the faith needs of Catholics in home mission dioceses in America - Appalachia, the Deep South, the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain states - in the form of grants. It supports the education of priests, deacons, religious sisters and lay people, so the Eucharist and the word of God can nourish Catholics. It supports religious education, so Catholics can expand their knowledge of the faith and hand it down to the next generation. It helps small parishes stay alive. Black and Native American Missions - To provide apostolic service to the Black and Native American evangelization programs in dioceses where these communities exist. On this Pentecost Sunday, I ask you to support these collections through donation and prayer so that the Church can continue its important work here in the diocese and throughout the country. Please know that you are remembered daily in my prayers. Peace in the Lord, + Robert F. Morneau Auxiliary Bishop of Green Bay We will take up this collection THIS weekend after Communion. Envelopes for this were included in your bi-monthly packet. There are also envelopes available at the tables by the doors of Church. Thanks for your support of this annual Pentecost collection! All of us are called to evangelize and this can be done is simple ways in our everyday lives. A suggestion for this week:
In today's Responsorial Psalm we pray, “Lord, send out your Spirit and renew the face of the earth.” Renewal of the earth was important to St. Isidore, the patron of farmers whom we remember on Thursday. Pray that the earth will produce abundant crops, that farmers will be blessed with good health through harvest time, and that all consumers will generously share the riches from the earth. 'Thanks Mom' Bone Marrow Drive"Thanks Mom" is a National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) campaign centered around Mother’s Day. What better way to say “Thanks Mom” than to share the gift of life with another! In an effort to encourage people to join the NMDP Registry, hundreds of bone marrow drives are being beld across the country. The $52 joining fee is temporarily waived until May 16. To learn more, go to www.marrow.org. To join the NMDP registry you must be 18-60 years old, meet specific health guidelines, and be willing to donate to any patient in need. Want to join?
